THE father of a young man who committed suicide could think of no reason why his son would want to end his life.
Matthew Evans Quested, aged 22, hanged himself with a leather belt at his Hereford home on February 1.
No indication
He did not leave a note and had given no indication that he had thought about killing himself, an inquest heard. His father Michael became concerned for his son when he had a call from Matthew's workplace in Worcester saying he had not arrived at work.
He went round to his house in Lingfield Walk and with the help of a neighbour, fireman Andrew Palmer, he got in to find Matthew dead in the bedroom.
Colleague Wendy Smith said that Matthew was a 'good, conscientious worker' who appeared to be lonely with not many friends outside of work.
Matthew had no medical history of depression. He had been to his GP with anxieties in the past.
In recording a verdict that Matthew had taken his own life, coroner David Halpern said he appeared to become more concerned about matters than others would and may have had 'perceived' problems.
