HAY-on-Wye Primary School could be relocated to Forest Road.

A proposal to move the school to the site of the proposed new £1.5 million community centre is subject to a feasibility study being carried out by Powys County Council.

"It was agreed at a meeting attended by representatives from Powys County Council, United Hay and Hay and District Sport Association, that a feasibility study should be conducted to determine the availability of external funding for a new community centre at Hay-on-Wye.

"The outcome will determine the proposal to relocate Hay-on-Wye Primary School on to the community centre site," explained a Powys County Council spokesperson.

Outline plans for the community centre are on public display at the United Hay and Dial-a-Ride office at 3/4 Bell Bank.

The plans, which have been drawn up by Powys County Council, reveal a large hall with theatre facilities and a series of meeting rooms.

In particular, a workshop, youth room, TV room, play group room, a kitchen and bar, committee room, changing rooms and toilets are suggested. The building could also make room for a gym.

It is also rumoured that Hay Town Council offices may be relocated to the site.
