PROJECT - Madley Millennium Project was now gathering pace and arrangements were in hand for the publication of the commemorative book to be given free to all children of the area under 16. Madley and District Historical Society group was concentrating on arrangements for the Madley Millennium Pageant to be held on September 2. In attendance would be Colonel John Birch's Regiment of Foot from the Sealed Knot Civil War Re-enactment Society, and the Owl and the Polecat Roadshow -- birds of prey and small animals. Also planned were a pig roast, a cannon on display, various other stalls and living history exhibitions. Admission would be free, but a prize programme would be for sale. The group was still looking for historical musicians, Morris dancers, bands and any groups with a historical background. Sponsors offering help or willing to advertise in the programme were needed urgently, as were helpers to run or take part in the pageant.
