THE Bull are moving ever closer to the top of the table as maximum points bring them to within nine points of Talbot Head with four games in hand in the run in to the Sterling Classic Malvern Football League title.

They amassed 23 goals in their last two outings, starting with Thursday nights encounter at Fromes Hill Reserves when they won 12-2.

Duncan Preedy scoring a hat-trick, Robbie Colwell netted seven times and Jamie James collected a further two to add to his season's tally. Fromes Hill Reserves replied through Tim Green and Chris Skidmore.

On Sunday The Bull entertained the in-form Portobello, who had not lost a league game since January 30, and they certainly came down with a bump as they were defeated 11-1.

Portobello started the brighter of the two teams by scoring first thanks to Tyrone Fisher, however that was to be their only consolation in the game as The Bull from thereon dominated, with Chris Powell scoring from the penalty spot, and two each for Lee Clueitt, James Dean, Mike Dean, Robbie Colwell and Jamie James.

Talbot Head returned to Fromes Hill after their defeat at the hands of the first team the previous week, and after Sundays performance they came away with the three points without conceding a goal as they triumphed 7-0. They scored four in the opening 45 minutes with Fromes Hills Reserves threatening on a number of occasions, however they increased their advantage in the second period with another three goals. Goal scorers for Talbot Head were Craig Loader (2), Matt Barry, Lee Manion (2) and a further brace from Tom Hofton.

Portobello United are still searching for their first win since March 26, however as they continue a tough run in against three of the top four clubs in the League they were beaten by Morgan who inflicted United to their heaviest defeat of the season

Mike Keeley and Justin Davies were on target for United, however the Morgan grabbed eleven through Andy Noon (4), Stuart Fish, Kevin Carter, Matt Ilsley, Steve Field, Steve Walker, Rob Middleton and Richard Bird. Final score 11-2.

Strikes completed their League programme on Sunday at home to Bell Inn 98 and after their win the previous week they were looking to come away from the bottom of the table.

However Bell Inn 98 had other ideas as they won 6-2, with goals from Paul Rowe, two from Jon Owen and a hat-trick from Darren Cooke. Darren Layton and Mat Duffett replied for the home team.

This coming Sunday sees the local derby between Fromes Hill and Fromes Hill Reserves, Talbot Head complete their League programme against third placed Morgan at the Abbey Playing Fields, The Bull entertain Club AC30 and Portobello host Ring of Bells.

There are also two midweek games involving Bell Inn 98 versus The Bull on Wednesday and Club AC30 versus Plume of Feathers, both games commence at 6.30pm.
