THE British Orienteering Championships come to Herefordshire for the first time this month and entries have already exceeded 2,300.

The individual championship will be contested at Haugh Wood and nearby Fownhope Park on Saturday, May 13, while the relay championships will be at Penyard Park, near Ross, the following day.

There will be another precedent set with the use of Sport Ident electronic punching for the first time in the event, a system that speeds up the results process.

In addition a training day will take place on May 11 at Holme Lacy College from 2pm-5pm and anyone who wants to try their hand at orienteering is invited.
