Bromyard Town recovered from a crushing midweek defeat at the hands of fellow title contenders Wellington to defeat a spirited visiting side who at times belied their lowly league position.
BROMYARD TOWN 3, SIKH HUNTERS 1
In the first half Bromyard struggled to take control but although their play was disjointed they did create numerous chances which they failed to take.
Teenager Carl Morgan supplied several dangerous crosses from the right but on each occasion efforts from Chris Jefferson and Wayne Hoskins were collected comfortably by the Hunters goalkeeper.
At the other end Mark Hopkins in the Town goal was rarely troubled despite some controlled midfield play from the visitors, but after 30 minutes he was eventually beaten following a quick break.
With Bromyard becoming increasingly frustrated by the visitors defence they were caught with too many players forward and although Hopkins saved the centre forward's first effort he was unable to stop the follow up.
Right on the stroke of half time Bromyard got themselves back into the game when centre-back Luke Johnston powerfully headed home Morgan's right wing corner kick.
The second half saw Bromyard take control and Johnston added a second headed goal midway through the half, again from a right wing flag kick.
From that point on the visitors fate was sealed and ten minutes from the end Jefferson capitalised on his luck when the goalkeeper's attempted clearance rebounded off him and the striker ran on to score from close range.
MALVERN TOWN RES 0, BROMYARD TOWN 3
ALTHOUGH Bromyard started nervously they eventually took control and capitalised on a goalkeeping error midway through the first half when Andy Kingston gave them the lead.
The bulk of play was confined to midfield but on the stroke of half time Chris Jefferson doubled Bromyard's tally when he ran on to net from a narrow angle.
The second half saw few goalscoring opportunities with Malvern having the bulk of play but in the 70th minute Kingstone put the result beyond doubt when he converted Carl Morgan's inch-perfect cross from 12 yards.
This leaves Bromyard needing a win over Leominster tomorrow (Saturday) to secure the Banks's Brewery League Division One (South) Championship.
