BROCKHAMPTON Crick-et Club are aiming to raise around £150,000 to fund the construction of a new pavilion in time for the start of next season.

The club have applied for a National Lottery grant to help to meet the costs, but they will need to raise a third of the amount to qualify for such financial assistance.

Fund-raising is in full swing and over £20,000 has already been collected, but the club are still looking for sponsors and are organising further money-raising events.

Brockhampton had a previous grant application from the Lottery turned down in 1997, their centenary year, and so will be hoping for better results this time.

The new facilities are set to include two large changing rooms, a lounge area and bar.

The plans would also benefit county cricket, as Herefordshire regularly play at Brockhampton's ground.

The news coincided with the club's annual presentation evening, where awards for last season were handed out.
