Bromyard Town 4 Leominster Town 2

BROMYARD clinched the title and look like gaining promotion from Division 1 South of the Bank's Brewery West Midlands League thanks to a hat-trick from Chris Jefferson.

It completed a league and cup double for Bromyard and Jefferson's treble gave him an enviable twin accolade of his own, after three goals in the final of the HFA County Challenge Cup.

Bromyard made a dream start within 20 seconds when Wayne Tizzard put Jefferson clear and the young striker crossed for Luke Johnston, who scored at the near post from eight yards.

Andy Kingstone could have increased the lead when he volleyed over from 12 yards, but Mark Hopkins in the home goal was the busiest keeper and was forced into a string of stops.

However, midway through the second half Bromyard took control after two defensive errors from the visitors.

A misjudgement from Dave Beaumont on 55 minutes allowed Jefferson to head home and just five minutes later the unstoppable front man went clear, rounded keeper Scott Hodgetts and made it 3-0.

Hopkins dropped a corner from Gareth George into his own net to reduce the deficit and when Beaumont headed in from Owen Marriott's ball, Leominster looked to be back in the game.

But Jefferson was again the hero when he broke through 10 minutes from time and lobbed Hodgetts from 25 yards to provide the icing on a fantastic season for Bromyard.

l Both Bromyard and runners-up Wellington could go up to the Banks's Premier Division next season as the top sides in Division 1 North are unlikely to meet the necessary criteria for promotion.

Work will start at Bromyard over the summer on a grandstand to hold 120 people - a requirement for the Premier Division - while Wellington's ground should also be up to scratch.
