SATURDAY'S trip to Dumbleton saw Colwall take their first League victory of the season thanks to a fine century from Tom Wolfendale.

DUMBLETON v COLWALL

Dumbleton set Colwall a mediocre target of 174 after impressive bowling displays from Simon Cain, Dave Sutton and James Wagstaff. Boorman (49) top scored for the home side before falling lbw to Wagstaff and Sutton claimed the crucial wicket of Stanton (26) after a superb catch at long on by Fred Conein. Both spinners took three wickets, Wagstaff for only 26 runs off 11 overs and it needed the experienced Mark Scott (32no) to push the total above 150. Sharp catching behind the stumps from Steve Ferguson and at slip by Richard Bennett dismissed the middle order cheaply and a wicket apiece for Cain and Richard Williams saw Dumbleton reach 173-8 off 50 overs.

The Lincoln Marshall, Tom Wolfendale opening partnership next again put on a match winning 150 as Colwall strolled home with eight overs to spare.

Wolfendale struck a second Colwall century in as many weeks, scoring 100 in only 121 balls an innings that included 16 boundaries.

Despite only scoring 57 in the opening 20 overs, Marshall and Wolfendale added 73 in the next 15 overs to see Colwall in sight of victory. Marshall scored a skilful 59 before being caught behind off Stanton's bowling and his vital supporting role ensured Wolfendale went on to score his second Colwall Century. With their sound batting performance Colwall claimed their first win in the league by eight wickets and a much welcomed 21 points.

Sunday sees Colwall take on Chaddesley Corbett in the area final of the Wadworth 6X National Village Knockout. Play commences at 2pm at Stowe Lane, this after Colwall entertain Hatherley & Reddings in the League at home tomorrow (Saturday).
