LEDBURY Preserves won their first match of the season when they beat the Brewery Inn by 72 runs.

Preserves was asked to bat first and lost the first wicket in the second over. A 53 run partnership for the second wicket between P Preedy and C Joules (21) helped to steady the ship, before the spin of the old master, J Taylor (5-32) and young T Hurrell (2-34) made Preserves 88-8.
A stand of 36 runs for the ninth wicket and 47runs from the tenth wicket helped the score to 171 all out.
P Preedy (77, two 6's, eleven 4's), skipper R Elvins (31) and A Davis (23no).
In reply the Brewery got to the worst start when N Hagger (0) was caught brilliantly by R Elvins off the bowling of R Ehrlich and soon found themselves 23-5 with R Ehrlich (4-6) off 5 overs and N Grinnell (1-21).
T Hurrell (13) and J Argent (22) started to build the innings before Argent was caught by Bowater off the bowling of A Reynolds (1-11).
Left armer G Evans (4-7) joined the attack and the Brewery Inn was out for a total of 99 with P Hurrell 26no.
