HINTON came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at home to Woofferton and opened up a one-point lead at the top of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division.

With rivals Ewyas Harold inactive, they battled away against lively opponents on a heavy Broomy Hill pitch. Woofferton were first to strike midway through the first half when Robbie Hughes threaded a long ball to Rob Banks who ran on and beat the keeper from a tight angle.

Hinton piled on the pressure in the early stages of the second half and after 20 minutes Matthew Ingram, who caused problems all afternoon, gained possession when the defence failed to clear a long ball and he gave Dave Cooper no chance in the visitors' goal.

Ingram was later hacked down inside the box, but Cooper produced a spectacular save from the firmly-struck penalty.

Woofferton missed an easy chance from inside the six-yard box, and the game deservedly finished all-square.

Third-placed Civil Service overcome a stern test from visiting Wellington before running out narrow 2-1 winners.

The injury-hit Civil Servants had to battle back from a half-time deficit and, after starting the game with only a 12-man squad, had to hang on with 10 men during the last few minutes after Neil Bloomfield was carried off injured.

Two committed sides produced a first half of end-to-end football, but defences were generally in control.

The one goal of the half was a bizarre affair with a blocked 20-yard shot spinning over the defence and into the net to give Wellington the lead.

Civil Service hit back when Steve Gosling latched onto an Alan McKenna cross and equalised with a near post header. They were then inspired to greater effort and, with Luke Gosling prompting his forwards with some astute through balls, it came as no surprise when they struck for the winner. Luke Gosling raced through for his second goal of the game with defenders vainly appealing for offside.

Pegasus finally found their shooting boots in the second half of their home match with Weston. After netting only nine times in their first 10 matches and then trailing by 1-0 at the break, they ran out 4-2 winners.

David Hodges gave Weston their lead in a well contested first period. Five minutes after the break James Howard netted the equaliser with a powerful header, but Guy Brain quickly restored the lead for Weston.

Chris Aspey then levelled with a powerful shot following a short corner and then Ben Williams came off the bench to turn the game on its head. After taking a Goode pass in his stride, he slipped his marker to slot the ball home and soon after latched onto a cross from Dave Radford and completed the scoring.

Westfields were another team to let slip a goal lead as they went down 2-1 to lowly Sutton who ended the Rotherwas-based outfit's eight-match unbeaten run.

John Williams gave the visitors the lead before Sean Morris struck back with two free-kicks to secure the points.

Leominster turned in a battling performance before going down 3-2 at home to Ross United Services. The fixture was reversed as the Ross pitch was waterlogged.

Ross took a two-goal lead and looked well in control but the struggling Leominster outfit res-ponded with a dogged performance and were rewarded with two goals from Gareth George, including a penalty, to level the score.

Leominster then pushed forward in search of only their second league win but were caught on the break and conceded a late goal.

Fownhope missed num-erous chances but still ran out comfortable 3-0 home winners over Bromyard.

Striker Lee Higgins ended a barren spell when he opened the scoring with a far-post header from a Darren Smith cross.

Tim Hargreaves then raced clear of the defence to slot coolly past the keeper.

David Taylor met a cross from Higgins and headed home the final goal in the second half. Bromyard never threatened the home defence.
