Pershore Town Res 0 Ledbury Town 2

ALTHOUGH not showing the flair and control of recent Banks's Brewery West Midlands League Division 1 South performances, Ledbury kept their title aspirations on course with a sound win at Pershore.

They remain a point adrift of leaders Brintons but have a game in hand and a vastly superior goal difference.

Both teams struggled on the rain-affected surface but it took a poor clearance attempt by a home defender to break the deadlock. With no danger threatening, his attempt to clear the ball went straight to Duncan Preedy who showed good control before sliding the ball past the advancing goalkeeper.

Stuart Hall extended Ledbury's lead when the Pershore keeper could only parry his header back to Hall who made no mistake from close range. After the interval few chances were created.

Brintons 4 Leominster Town 1

Brintons thwarted Leominster's attempt to complete their first league double of the season when they avenged the previous week's 5-2 defeat with a comfortable home victory.

Brintons produced a fine display of attacking football and deservedly took a two-goal interval lead. A well-flighted free-kick found a home striker unmarked at the far post and his powerful header gave Bob Phillips no chance.

As Leominster pushed up looking for an equaliser they were caught on the break and Brintons finished well to extend their lead.

Leominster rallied after the break with Jamie Allen going close from a narrow angle and Matt Pugh breaking well from midfield to bring a fine save from the home keeper. But another breakaway took the leaders three clear and, although Daniel Rocke converted a penalty after Allen was brought down in the box, a fourth Brintons goal put the result beyond doubt.

Bustleholme Res 2 Hinton 0

Hinton started well with a strong wind at their backs, but a solid home defence denied them any real scoring opportunities in a dull first half.

It was backs to the wall after the interval as Bustleholme laid siege to the visitors' goal.

Hinton defended resolutely and looked to be heading for a share of the points until a lapse of concentration in the 75th minute allowed Bustleholme to snatch the lead.

Hinton surged back and twice in quick succession thought they had earned penalties when Mike Ingram was tripped and Ross Semple body checked.

Play was waved on and a last-minute goal gave Bustleholme a hard-earned win.
