THE Lion Ballroom will once again be the setting for the third concert in the Sunday Teatime Concert series, on February 25, when the celebrated Radio 3 broadcaster and pianist Roger Nichols will take us on a musical stroll through Paris, which has always been a favourite city for the many musicians who lived, worked and found inspiration there.

Roger Nichols specialises in French music of the 19th and 20th century, and is an editorial consultant for the Gramophone Magazine on this topic.

Promenade

His most recent projects include a number of articles for the next Oxford Companion to Music, a five volume anthology of French operatic Arias for Peters Edition and two programmes for Radio 3's Sunday afternoon series, Discovering Music. He will shortly be starting a new edition of Duparc's songs also for Peters Edition.

A Parisian Promenade 1830-1930 which is the title of Roger Nichol's recital, will include stories and anecdotes to illustrate the music of such composers as Chopin, Liszt, Duparc, Chabrier, Debussy, Ravel and Poulenc, all played on the Ballroom's own, much feted Steinway Grand piano.

Tickets are available from Capriole Music, Leominster 01568 613477, and The Outback, Hereford on 01432 275063.
