A Hereford man died while desperately trying to save his house from fire on Tuesday night.
Terry Owens, aged 52, collapsed near an extinguisher and garden hose as he fought the flames in Alice Close, Hampton Dene.
The fire started in a car parked in the driveway of the house and spread to two others and the garage.
Fire crews, alerted by a passer-by, put out the flames, but found Mr Owens unconscious.
Despite firefighters' attempts to resuscitate him, Mr Owens was pronounced dead on arrival at Hereford General Hospital.
