PLANS to create the county's first site of excellence in environmental educational studies are to be unveiled in March.
If successful the Madley Environmental Study Centre, which lies in the shadow of the huge British Telecom satellite communication dishes, will be transformed into a unique facility for children and adults alike.
BT already manages the 11 acres of wetland, woodland and meadows as a habitat for wildlife and now plans to provide technical support to develop the educational side of the project.
In addition, the Environment Agency is bidding for funds to provide purpose built, innovative classrooms and a lecture auditorium on the site.
Herefordshire Council, meanwhile, is supporting the initiative and will promote the centre in schools as an example of excellence in education.
The plans will be announced to an invited audience including Paul Keetch MP, Herefordshire councillors and environmental specialists at the BT Madley Communications Centre on Monday March 5.
