Easington Sports 2 Ross Town 0

ALTHOUGH Ross enjoy-ed a good proportion of both possession and chances, they conceded a goal in each half and remain rooted to the bottom of Division 1 West of the Cherry Red Records Hellenic League.

Ross started brightly on a small, heavy pitch with both Darren Preece and Martin Murphy going close. As the ground cut up it was the home team who seized the initiative midway through the half when Richard Gardner burst through and chipped the oncoming Andrew Watkins.

Ross dominated the rest of the half territorially but Graham Jones' scoring chance got stuck in the mud.

The second period started with Easington looking dangerous on the break before Ross enjoyed a good spell with Jones and Murphy just missing the target.

Dave Knapper also drove against the bar after racing clear of the defence. But the game was all over in the closing minutes when the Ross keeper Watkins was unable to deal with a back pass which stuck in the mud and Gardner rushed in to net his second goal.
