Wellington 1 Little Drayton Rangers 0

MARK Cross netted the first-half goal which gave Wellington a welcome, if narrow, revenge win in the Banks's Brewery West Midlands League Premier Division.

The villagers were well beaten 3-0 when they recently visited their Shropshire opponents.

The match, which took place at Kington, was a physical but sporting encounter played in heavy conditions, with Wellington deservedly holding on to their early lead against fit and spirited visitors.

Wellington enjoyed plenty of possession in the first half but lacked the cutting edge to create many clear-cut chances against an uncompromising defence.

Cross netted the only goal after 20 minutes when he gained possession following good build-up play between Joe Parker, Andy Morrison and Tom Herbert. He cut in from the right and found the target with a well-placed shot.

The second half was well contested with Little Drayton applying the pressure in search of an equaliser.

Wellington keeper James Panniers was in excellent form throughout and, with good support from Mark Fish and Michael Cole in the heart of the defence, they were able to hold out for their 14th win of the season without too many scares.
