Ross Town have appointed Ian Ford as manager.

Ford, who previously managed Cheltenham Saracens in the Hellenic League Premier Division, is dropping down to the Division 1 West as Ross step up their bid to gain promotion.

Town director of football Chris Parsons said: "We regard Ian's appointment as a real coup for the club as he has a proven track record at this level, having guided Saracens to promotion positions in Division 1 three times in four seasons.

"It was only when they reached a ground sharing agreement with Harrow Hill for season 2000/01 that Saracens were able to accept promotion to the Premier Division.

"Ian will be bringing some experienced players with him but is also keen to utilise local talent and can see the long term potential of the club."

Ross Town are looking forward to starting a season in Ross for the first time in six years after ground sharing with Cinderford Town. They are also planning to run a development squad with a view to re-joining the Midland Floodlit Youth League.

Pre-season training begins today at Ross Sports Centre at 6.45pm.
