Hereford United Director of Football Graham Turner is determined not to let their season peter out.

United, who entertain Nationwide Conference relegation battlers Welling United tomorrow (3.00), have gone seven matches without a win.

That includes three successive home defeats, and to add insult to injury United have not beaten Welling in five attempts.

Having been favourites to finish third at one stage, the Bulls' poor run means they now seem likely to finish sixth at best.

Turner said of his side's loss of form: "We have conceded too many and not scored goals in recent weeks.

"We were scoring goals for fun early in the season and then had a spell of being very strong defensively, but we seem to have lost our way.

"I do feel we didn't have the best of fortunes against Kingstonian on Monday. We had enough chances to have won comfortably but still found ourselves on the wrong end of the result.

"We now want to finish in the top seven and we need to win both games to have a chance of doing that.

"It is important to finish the season well -- when you are looking at things like season ticket sales, it is vital that supporters maintain interest in the club.

"We have now lost three home matches on the trot, which is just not acceptable."

Welling are in 20th place, two points adrift of nearest rivals Woking, and Turner recognises that the visitors are in desperate need of points. "It will be a tough one --they are battling for their lives."

Turner hopes to include strikers Steve Piearce, who has missed most of the season through injury, and Rob Elmes, who has shaken off an ankle problem. Both came on as substitutes in the 2-0 home defeat against Kingstonian on Monday.

But defender Paul Sturgess is doubtful with a knee injury, while Tom White has returned to Bristol Rovers after the completion of his three-month loan spell.
