Hereford United's Director of Football Graham Turner has given his backing to fresh plans to redevelop Edgar Street.

Herefordshire Council leader Terry James has now released details of proposals to redevelop Edgar Street and its surroundings.

United remaining at their traditional home is the hub of the project, and the ground would also become an administrative and training centre for sport in the city, with other sporting clubs expecting to become involved.

United have formed a joint venture with development companies Chelverton Properties and the BS Group, whom they owe £1.3 million, to try and acquire the freehold of Edgar Street and move to a new site in the city.

But to stay at Edgar Street would be a great financial boost for the club.

Turner said: "I had an amicable meeting with Councillor James and he was more forthcoming than I expected.

"If his blueprint means that we can get the loan off our back and provide facilities for us to generate income other than from football activities, then I would be delighted.

"But I think there will have to be a lot of hard talking before anything is resolved."
