Hereford United's pre-season preparations have been clouded by a serious injury to star player Paul Parry during last night's 2-2 draw at Oldbury United.

Thirty minutes into the pre-season friendly, Parry went down unchallenged as he was about to kick the ball and was taken to hospital with a damaged ankle.

After forcing two early corners, United's Steve Piearce saw his sixth minute shot turned around the post by home goalkeeper Steve Johnson.

Ex-Luton midfielder Michael McIndoe then watched his seventh minute header rebound off the crossbar.

The Bulls deservedly took the lead on 19 minutes when a left-wing cross from Parry was turned into his own net by Oldbury's former Hereford full back Dave Titterton.

The lengthy stoppage following Parry's injury appeared to unsettle the visitors, but just before half-time Hereford almost increased their lead when a cross from new player-coach Phil Robinson found Matt Gardiner but his eight-yard effort was blocked.

Following a number of substitutions, the Midland Alliance side equalised ten minutes after the interval when Dave Davies headed beyond Andrews.

United regained the lead after 66 minutes when Gary Twynham volleyed home a rebound from 10 yards following a freekick.

Oldbury's substitute Dave Jackson turned and fired a 20 yard shot which was saved by Andrews after 73 minutes.

But with Andrews failing to gather the resulting Steve Watson corner, Carl Abbotts was able to turn home the loose ball to level the scores.
