THE Rural Media Company is hosting a briefing session for local filmmakers about a brilliant new production opportunity.

The scheme, DIGITAL SHORTS, is open to experienced filmmakers and newcomers alike. This is your chance to make a digital short film lasting under ten minutes with a maximum budget of less than £9,000.

To find out more, come to the Digital Shorts briefing on October 1 at The Rural Media Company offices in Hereford commencing 6.30pm. Places are free but booking is essential as space is limited.

The Digital Shorts scheme is jointly funded by The Film Council's New Cinema Fund and the region's Media Development Agency and will create more than eight new films. Paul Green of the MDA says:

"We're looking for the Region's best and most innovative talent. You'll be the filmmakers with an exciting new approach to genre and storytelling.

Whether it's documentary, drama or animation, we want to see inventive, creative and provocative filmmaking at its very best. We are especially keen to see contemporary stories about the region".

Digital technology is revolutionising the way in which films are being made and distributed. Lightweight, portable cameras and user-friendly editing systems mean there has never been a better time to just get out on the streets and tell your stories.

For further details or to book your place contact Vicky Harris, The Rural Media Company, telephone 01432 344039 or email info@ruralmedia.co.uk. You need to move fast though - the deadline for applications is October 29.
