The Youth Music Action Zone - 'New Roots' will bring a range of activities, gigs and events to young people over the next twelve months in Herefordshire and Shropshire. These range from Latin rhythm and contemporary composition workshops to using computers to make music. New Roots is part of a network of Youth Music Action Zones, which have been instigated and funded by the National Foundation for Youth Music.
As their contribution to the New Roots
programme, The Rural Media Company will train and host a young team of roving reporters, editors, writers, photographers and designers. Together, they will create a magazine-style website to cover all that's pop, hip and hopping in the Marches music scene.
"This is an ideal opportunity for anyone
interested in a career in journalism or writing and especially if they already have a passion for any kind of music," says project co-ordinator John Wallace.
If you're 18 or under, get involved by calling John Wallace at The Rural Media Company on 01432 344 039 or email johnw@ruralmedia.co.uk. Free training and support will be given - and they'll even pay your bus fare!
