A BISHOP'S Frome farm project for adults with learning disabilities is proving to be a success, three years after its conception.
The Glevum Farm Trust, which leases 22 acres of land from the Eveson Trust, provides useful projects for young men and women with special needs who have difficulty in finding full-time employment.
Ed Davies from the trust said: "Working with qualified horticulturalists, the adults get an active and useful opportunity to do something with their day. "
The land used for the project was once a potato field of little value to its tenant farmer. It has since been created into a traditional smallholding with livestock, organic vegetables and a small orchard with apples and pears, the produce of which is sold in Ledbury or used by the trust's residential home in Eldersfield.
"We were initially funded by EC, European Regional Development Fund in 1998 and our objectives laid out then have been fulfilled, said Mr Davies.
"We don't want to increase number of adults who come, we just want to improve what we are doing."
