A NEW Bromyard tourism group, which formed in July, is working to raise the profile of the town and attract visitors.

Adverts have been taken out in both the Malverns Guide and in The Wye Valley and Herefordshire Guide, which are expected to be printed in time for the World Travel Fair at Olympia in London on December 4 and which will then be distributed far and wide.

The District Tourism Organisation Group has also arranged for a new Tourist Information Point to be put in the High Street. That and existing points in the Square and outside Bromyard Leisure Centre will be filled with information on places to visit, places to stay and things to do as a guide for visitors to the town.

The group is also lobbying Herefordshire Council in an attempt to have parking charges for coaches lifted to further encourage visitors.

Vice-chairman Gill Williams, said: "We cannot overlook the valued income that visitors to Bromyard bring throughout the year, the more we can raise the profile of the town, the more prosperity it will bring to the whole district."
