WITH no Malvern & District Football League fixtures last Sunday it was Club AC 30 who fought out a hard battle against Evesham League opposition to win through to the third round of the WFA Sunday Minor Cup after a penalty shootout.

They had to work very hard against an organised Pershore FC Sunday outfit, however they produced arguably their best performance of the season having come back from a deficit to force the tie into extra time and then penalties

Jason Payton-Smith grabbed the opening goal for Club AC 30, only for Pershore FC Sunday to take the lead before the half-time interval with two well taken goals.

Substitute Tony Reece bagged the equaliser for Club AC 30 in the second period of the game, and both teams were given chances to settle the tie with a penalty awarded each to both sides, the goalkeepers saved them each respectively, so with extra time goalless the tie was ultimately decided by penalty kicks

It was Andrew Hall in the Club AC 30 goal who turned hero after saving twice for the home side to see them through to the next round having scored twice out of the five and Pershore FC Sunday once. Final score 4-3 with Paul Young and Danny May on target during the penalty shoot-out.

Talbot Head couldn't break down opposition Wychbold RBL Reserves in their WFA Sunday Minor Cup tie at Upton as they bowed out 1-3.

The Morgan Aero v St Johns Tigers tie fell foul of the weather conditions and they will try again this coming Sunday.

It's the turn of the Herefordshire sides to compete in their County Cup this Sunday and Brewery's trip to Monmouth to play Trefynwy Reserves will see them setting off early, although Fromes Hill and Bell Inn 98 have home ties as they play Allstars and Richards Castle respectively.
