AN icy wind blew through Eastnor Castle yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon when the great Houdini rose from his grave to star in Halloween escapades with the cast of Blue Peter.
In chilling celebrations marking the anniversary of his death, the Ledbury haunt was used to perform one of Houdini's most daring escapes, live on kids' TV.
The act was re-created by top children's magician and presenter Dominic Wood and featured on a special broadcast from Herefordshire yesterday tea-time.
The drama unfolded as children's hero, Harry Potter, filmed by BBC camera crews, flew in on his broomstick to join the party.
"The programme celebrated Halloween, a time of ghosts, goblins, witches and wizards. It also coincides with the eagerly awaited release of the first Harry Potter feature film 'The Sorcerer's Stone'," said press officer Francesca Chick.
The show would not have been complete without presenter Liz Barker showing young viewers how to make their very own icy wizards.
