SWIFTS took on league leaders Tupsley on Saturday and were unlucky not to take anything from the game.

Ledbury SWIFTS U-11's 1,

TUPSLEY PEGASUS 3

Swifts had to be on their game against a team with a 100 per cent league record so far and they took the game to Tupsley in the early exchanges. Swifts were soon rewarded with the lead when Sam Beale sent a long clearance over the visitors defence and Joshua Emery broke clear to finish into the bottom corner.

However, Tupsley soon hit back to equalise and then take the lead with a fine shot from outside the area that gave Sam Beale no chance.

Swifts were now under a lot of pressure although Ledbury did have a chance to equalise from the penalty spot after they were awarded a penalty but the normally deadly Thomas Boyle just put the ball wide.

Swifts came out in the second half in much more determined mood and started to play their best football of the match. Thomas Boyle was causing all sorts of problems for the Tupsley defence with his runs down the flanks and with Joshua Emery winning the midfield battle it was Tupsley's turn to defend. A lovely flowing move down the right involving Lewis Hodges and Joshua Emery sent Thomas Boyle clear but his shot was well saved by the keeper and the rebound crashed against the bar from Thomas as he followed up. This summed up the second half with Swifts making raid after raid on the Tupsley goal but unable to find a goal. Not surprisingly with Swifts pushing forward the dangerous Tupsley forwards found some space on a rare breakaway and added a third goal.
