BOWLS -- A visit to Bulmers Social Club recently saw the Sellack bowls team play their first winter friendly game of the season. Two players from the Madley Club played with the Sellack team and, with teenager Gareth Barnfield once again putting in a very accomplished performance in the team of four which consisted of Jean Moriss (club captain), Wyn Downing and David Lane, they managed to bring about a rare victory over the Cidermen pipping them 21-22 over 20 ends. On the other mat, another very close game this time saw the Bulmers side run out 23-17 winners. Bulmers visit to the Sellack club's new home venue has now been changed and that game will now go ahead at St Weonard's Village Hall on Tuesday, December 11. In the two counties LEH trophy which consists of ten players each side playing four different disciplines, the Sellack Club have been drawn to play against Gloucestershire side Quedgeley and will play the first leg at their club on Tuesday, November 20 and the second leg at the St Weonards Village Hall on Tuesday December, 4. The Macmillan's Charity Short Mat Bowls tournament at Bromyard Leisure Centre and organised by HSMB Association player Andrew Mollett is this year being held on Sunday, November 18. The Sellack club have entered two teams of four and as well as all teams enjoying the day's play, the event intends annually to raise much needed cash to help the work of the much appreciated Macmillan nurses and cancer relief.
