ROYAL BRITISH LEGION -- On Saturday, November 10 a bingo session in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal will be held in the Curzon Herrick Hall, Eardisley. There will be many good prizes and 'eyes down' is at 7.45pm.

WHIST DRIVE -- The monthly social whist drive took place at the New Strand, Eardisley on Monday, October 29. MC Phillip Jenkins welcomed players and later presented prizes to Mrs M Gates, Mrs S Green, Mrs G Lloyd, Mrs R Jenkins and Mrs G Thomas. The next whist drive will be on Monday, November 26 at 7.45pm.

REMEMBRANCE -- This year's Remembrance Day Service will be held in Eardisley Church. The parade will assemble at the New Strand at 10.30am. The two minutes silence will be in the church at the 11am commencement of the service. 'Poppy Bingo' will be held in the Curzon Herrick Hall, on Saturday, November 10, with 'Eyes Down' at 7.45pm.

MOTHERS' UNION -- On Tuesday, November 20, there will be a Mother's Union shopping trip to Cardiff. Further details from Jean Franklin (01544 327643) or Betty Weaver (01544 327466).

CHURCH -- A concert given by the Britten Singers will take place in Eardisley Church on Friday, November 14.

METHODIST CHURCH -- Preachers for the 11am Services at the Eardisley Methodist Church in November will be Mr W Searby (Nov 18) and Mr W Beers (Nov 25, Holy Communion). There will be a joint service with St Mary's for Remembrance Sunday.

GROUP PARISH COUNCIL -- Among topics discussed at the recent council meeting were the proposal housing development at the old abattoir site and the inadequacy of the existing sewer pipe which is causing a surcharge on properties at the lower end of Church Road. Other planning applications were also discussed. As the audit for the year ending March 30, 2001 has been completed, the accounts were adopted and signed. The next meeting will be in the Reading Room on Monday, November 19 at 7.30pm.
