Hereford returned to form with a hard-working 2-1 win over bottom club Marjon of Plymouth in the Gerrard West of England and South Wales League Premier Division 3.

Searching for a much-needed away victory to keep them in touch with the leaders, Hereford took control from the first whistle and produced wave after wave of attack.

The Plymouth defence withstood the pressure until the closing seconds of the first half when man-of-the-match Richard Wenham slipped the ball to Richard Wood who beat the goalkeeper from close range.

Plymouth responded after the break and drew level from the penalty spot after Jim Wallis had upended a home attacker.

But Hereford deservedly claimed the points when Richard Edwards followed up a Colin Amos strike to net the winner.

Leominster crashed to a 10-2 defeat at table-topping Bristol University 2nd in North Division 2.

Josh Watkins gave Leominster an early lead and, although the students hit back with a leveller, Rob Goodman soon restored the visitors' advantage.

Unfortunately for Leo-minster, Goodman's goal spurred the students into action and the hosts opened up a commanding 5-2 lead by half time. Leominster continued to chase shadows in the second half and five further goals from the home side sentenced the Hereford-shire club to a humiliating reverse.

Leominster 2nd cruised to a 4-0 win at home to Gloucester City 3rd in North East Division 2.

Ian Johnson snapped up a hat-trick for Leominster who chalked up their second victory of the campaign.

Leominster dominated throughout and Johnson struck twice in the first half as the home team led 2-0 at the break. Adrian Preece grabbed the third goal 10 minutes in the second half, while Johnson completed his treble 10 minutes from time.

Hereford 2nd slipped to a 2-0 home defeat against leaders Yate 2nd.

Hereford 3rd romped to a 7-0 victory against visiting Lydney 2nd in North East Division 5.

Jonathon Mundy started the rout with a sweet strike from the edge of the area, Andy Rogers grabbed the second after a fine run, and then Richard Jones scored the first goal of his well-taken hat-trick.

Hereford attacked relentlessly in the second half and it was not long before Jones added the fourth goal from a penalty flick.

Nigel Mundy and Dan Little both got in on the act with a goal each before Jones chalked up his hat-trick with a magnificent finish.
