Ledbury Swimming Pool will not now be closed for one month for refurbishment, as was advertised by Herefordshire Council.
Essential work will still be carried out next month and users are still being advised to expect disruption.
Geoff Cole, the authority's head of culture and leisure said the decision followed talks with the contractor.
The gym will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 4 and 5, and the pool and changing rooms will close for one week only, commencing Tuesday, December 4, to enable work to the front door and tiling in the ladies and gents showers to be carried out.
"When the pool re-opens, there will be disruption to customers in respect of the shower arrangements, but alternative provision will be made available," he said.
Mr Cole has already stated that good signage and temporary shower units could limit inconvenience to customers, while work to the shower cubicles is finished.
