Mayor Phillip Bettington says support for the visit of the Windsor Castle choir to Ledbury has been "overwhelming".

The sponsor list of Ledbury businesses offering money, services or gifts stands at 55 with more expected to pledge their support before next Friday.

Coun Bettington said: "Ledbury people and businesses have responded outstandingly, and I thank them all for their generosity. It has been overwhelming.

"We now have enough money to pay for the choir, and our main objective is to make as much money as we can for the charities."

Coun Bettington said 500 tickets had been printed with the option of printing more.

Among the sponsorship, around £800 has been given in cash, 19 gifts provided for a draw and a further ten offers received to provide food and refreshments for the choir.

The Mayor's Concert, featuring the choir of St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, will take place from 7pm in St Michael and All Angel's Church.

It will raise money for the Ledbury Hospital Equipment Fund and Ledbury's Comm-unity Voluntary Action.

Tickets, price £10, are available from the town council offices in Church Lane or from the Tourist Information Centre in the Homend and will also be available on the door.
