Bromyard were under pressure in this match before they even set off, with five first team players being unavailable at very short notice.

BRIERLEY & HAGLEY ALLIANCE 6, BROMYARD TOWN 0

Rik Halion was unavailable due to work commitments, Chris Billings and Paul Krisovic failed fitness tests after picking up knocks against Wellington on Tuesday, and David Philips and William Watkins are still not yet fully recovered from injuries.

However, Town battled hard against very aggressive opponents with numerous high and dangerous kicks inflicting several minor head injuries, all of which the officials seemed to ignore as no action was taken to curb the wild style of play.

Conceding one goal in the first half, the referee seemed to have left his watch behind as he played nearly 12 minutes over, allowing Brierley to score a second when Town lost their concentration.

In the second half, a penalty killed off the Town's confidence, and Brierley continued with their aggressive style scoring three more goals, until just before the end a two-footed tackle on Rich Silk at last brought a reaction from the man in the middle however, too little, too late, to make this into anything like a game of football.

Hopefully, the injuries picked up, along with those already endured, will not spoil Bromyard's visit to Kidsgrove Athletic tomorrow (Saturday) in the second round of the FA Vase competition.
