FOR the second time in three weeks Ledbury's Reserves enjoyed cup success against their Division Two opponents, and there were signs this week that their performances are picking up.

Leintwardine COLTS 2, LEDBURY TOWN RESERVES 5

Having arrived at the ground just before kick off Ledbury were understandably slow out of the blocks. But by the quarter hour mark Ledbury had finally settled and duly took the lead when, after some excellent approach play from the defence to the midfield, Neil Gardiner was released on the right and his pin point cross was headed home by Jamie James.

Straight after that it was two, Locke's through ball was latched onto by Ashley Jones who surged in to the penalty area and fired left footed past the goalkeeper.

But things didn't go all Ledbury's way in the first half and goal keeper Lewis Skyers had to make an excellent double save to preserve Ledbury's lead.

However just after this Ledbury got a deserved third goal from an unlikely source, Leon Roberts from left back went round two defenders before curling a left footed shot into the corner of the net.

Ledbury's first half performance was soured slightly on half time when after an incident involving Clueit, a Leintwardine player saw red for violent conduct and Jamie James was then inexplicably sent off for simply kicking the ball away.

Within minutes of the restart the game was seemingly wrapped up when Grubb scored the fourth goal from the penalty spot after a handball. After this Ledbury were given a fright when the home side pulled the game back to 4-2 with two goals in ten minutes.

This seemed to stir Ledbury back into action and Jamie Phillips restored the three goal cushion with a neat finish after good work by man of the match Neil Gardiner.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Ledbury Reserves entertain Bartestree again in the Cup, kick off 2pm.
