SWIFTS went out of the Under 10's Mailes Cup in a very competitive encounter with Lads Club Colts which went all the way to extra time.

LEDBURY SWIFTS 1, LADS CLUB COLTS 3 (aet)

With both teams riding high in the league, this was always going to be a close affair and so it proved.

Midway through the first half Swifts took the upper hand, with shots from Roy Powell, Sam Crichard then Chris Savidge all going close. This spell of pressure did lead to a goal when on 15 minutes panic in the Lads Club defence from a corner left Sam Crichard free to score.

The rest of the half belonged to Lads Club with Swifts desperately defending but with the last kick of the half Lads Club equalised with a well taken goal.

The second half was again keenly contested though Lads Club were more on top but no one could find a winner in normal time.

In the first half of extra time Lads Club missed some good chances and were nearly made to pay when James Febery put Adam Davis through but his shot went just wide.

With three minutes left and penalties looming Lads Club took the lead in the cruellest of ways when, from a long throw, Sam Peplow in trying to clear headed past his own keeper. Though Swifts tried hard to equalise Lads Club wrapped the game up in the last minute with a third goal.

Swifts are away to Leominster Minor Colt tomorrow (Saturday).
