LEDBURY show jumper Adam Brown, aged 15, and his horses F1 Lucky Lips, F1 Lord Wellington and F1 Larina are currently enjoying a very busy and successful time.

Two weeks ago saw Adam and Lucky Lips travel to Warwickshire College to compete in the Dengie Pony Club National Show Jumping championships.

Over 5,000 young people under the age of 18 started to contest this very exciting event way back in October 2000. Adam and Lucky Lips qualified and won through the preliminary rounds to gain a place at the finals to represent Malvern Pony Club branch.

Seventy-six young riders from all over Great Britain jumped to an amazing standard and gasps and applause rang out from a very large crowd of spectators throughout the day.

Adam and Lucky Lips put in a lovely clear round to allow them entry into the jump off. Both horse and rider were in tremendous form and jumped the course in a blistering time only to have the final fence down. However, this still gave them tenth place in the final line up, which was a pleasing end to a very long and exciting competition.

The following day Adam took Lord Wellington and Larina to Hartpury College to compete in their British Show Jumping associated classes. Again a successful day was in store when Adam and Wellington finished in first place in the 1.00m class and second in the 1.10m class. Larina then achieved a third place in the Newcomers to round off another good day.

Last weekend, Adam took all three horses to Gracelands Equestrian Centre in Droitwich to battle it out for places in the Trailblazers competition.

Adam decided to enter Wellington and Larina in the 0.95m class and although Larina was unlucky to lower a pole in the first round, Lord Wellington went on to win the class beating the second placed rider by over three seconds.

The next class was the 1.05m and all three horses were entered. This time Lord Wellington took a pole in the first round but Lucky Lips and Larina made up for that by taking both the first and second placings.
