To celebrate Easter, Spring and its first anniversary, the Art in Heaven country art gallery at Llanwarne will be offering a small quantity of rare daffodil bulbs for sale from its own stock.
The gallery re-opens this weekend for its summer season, displaying contemporary, original artwork as well as serving teas and coffees - in the garden whenever possible.
The bulbs, Narcissus Pseudo Obvallaris - Tenby daffodil, grew wild in Pembrokeshire. Many legends concerning their origin, involving shipwrecked Phoenicians and Italian monks among others.
The nineteenth century craze for the species meant they were
harvested by the cartload and taken to Covent Garden, London by an entrepreneurial horticulturist who completely raped the
original source.
Now listed in the British Red Data book of rare and endangered vascular plants, the Narcissus Obvallaris is all but extinct. Why not seek some out for your Easter table, from this philanthropic local?
Art in Heaven is opposite the
village green and Llanwarne's magical ruined church and is open from 10am-5pm. For more information call 01981 540202.
