WOMEN'S INSTITUTE -- At last month's meeting members were given a cookery demonstration on pastry making by Helen Brown, who showed them how to make the perfect toffee apple pie and a savoury flan using walnut pastry with a filling of bacon, celery and stilton cheese. For dessert, Helen made a delicious apricot ring from choux pastry, this was later won by Ikka Boyd as a draw prize. Gill Smith gave the vote of thanks to Helen for such a skilful and informative demonstration. A competition for the Pruddah Cup, was won by Ann Weedon for her four tartlets, with Val Smith second, and Ann Williams and Rosemary Smith joint third prize winners.
