JULIAN Pritchard kept alive his dreams of recapturing the point to point jockey's title when he scored a double at the Albrighton Woodland meeting at Chaddesley Corbett on Monday.

It took his seasonal score to 34, three behind leader Evan Williams who was out of luck at the meeting.

Pritchard struck first in the Mixed Open on Mounthenry Star who was sent off a warm favourite in the 10-runner field. Once Williams's mount He's A Dancer had fallen early on, the favourite was always in charge and a win by 25 lengths followed.

The double was completed in the PPORA Restricted on Digitalis who needed all of Pritchard's skill to get him home on the rain-softened ground after a number of mistakes had left him leg weary.

Despite the horse tiring badly, Pritchard had kept enough in reserve to score by four lengths from the chasing Itscinders, with Arthur Henry back in third place.

Ivington trainer Mark Doyle has had a successful season with his small string and he scored another winner in the final race on the card when Colonel Colt took the second division of the Maiden race.

Partnered by Sam Grey, riding his first-ever winner, Colonel Colt came late on the scene as the leader Piccolum tired badly and, in a driving finish, Colonel Colt took the honours by a head from Arctium, with Piccolina back in third place.
