POLE vaulter Irie Hill currently leads the Commonwealth outdoor rankings with four metres for England and is in second place in the Great Britain rankings.
It is the German-born Hereford woman's ambition to compete in the Commonwealth Games this year - she has been preparing for the trials in Manchester on June 15-16 - and then the European Championships.
And, after winter training in Australia, she was fresh off the plane to compete in the Schwabian Championships in Gerst-hofen, Germany, where she started her career as an eight-year-old and went on to learn how to pole vault in 1995.
She won with 3.80m to reigning champion Silke Schneider's 3.60m and was happy with her performance after the long journey.
