GREGG Morgan (Belmont) retained his Shropshire and Herefordshire Junior stroke-play title with a two-round total of 146 (77,69) at The Shropshire.
The Wales junior international player trailed David Gojka (Shifnal) by two shots after the morning round but produced a superb three-under-par 69 in the afternoon to win by a clear five shots.
His win also earned him a place in the twin counties' junior match-play finals as the leader of the eight qualifiers who had the best aggregate score in the Championship and Spring Trial.
Morgan will team up with his Belmont colleague Will Lloyd and Hereford's Ben Synnock who also qualified for the match-play final stages.
This week Morgan and Lloyd will be part of the Shropshire and Herefordshire junior team of six challenging the other Midlands counties at Sandwell. The winners will join the top team from the other three regional stroke-play events in the final of the EGU's junior team championship.
