A DEVASTATING stint of swing bowling from Glyn Harrhy swept former double winners Talgarth to an emphatic nine-wicket triumph over shell-shocked Monmouth in the Flint & Cook Marches League Division 1.

The Talgarth paceman bagged 6-19 off 9.4 outstanding overs as the home club were routed for just 40 runs at the Sports Ground.

Australian all-rounder Darren Jury (3-7) supported man-of-the-match Harrhy, who clean bowled five of his victims, while S Williams took 1-12.

Monmouth's fragile batting line-up had no answer to the swinging deliveries and only opener Ian Morgan (18) managed to score more than five runs for the home side.

Talgarth wasted little time in reaching the paltry target, which they achieved in the 12th over, with Mark Waldeck (18) the only visiting batsman to perish.

Leaders Bulmers maintained their impressive start to the season with an exciting 11-run win at lowly Wormelow.

Steve Head (47) and Andrew Turner Jones (40) were the main contributors in the Cidermen's 180-9, while Ian Herbert (5-41) and Jamie Cork (2-60) were the villagers' most successful bowlers.

Wormelow were in contention all the way, particularly whilst Derek Porter (46) and Ian Herbert (35) were at the crease, sharing a stand of 78 for the fourth wicket.

But once Porter and Herbert were dismissed, the momentum of Wormelow's innings slipped and the home club finished short on 169-9.

Batsman Brian Pugh blasted 100 in Garnons' resounding 126-run triumph over reigning champions Canon Frome.

Pugh's superb innings helped propel the visitors to a commanding 286-5 and he was backed up by Andy Brace (46 not out), Alan Jones (44), Jon Andrews (34) and Trevor Jones (31).

Left-arm spinner Stuart Griffiths (6-62) then got down to work to remove the home club's middle order and rush out Canon Frome for 160. Andy Rogers (32), John Williams (24) and Seth Marshall (21) were each dismissed as their innings were beginning to flower.

In-form Leominster secured a 24-run win over visiting Goodrich in a tight match at Bridge Street.

Leominster posted a competitive 163-9 thanks to an unbeaten 39 from Nick Palmer and important contributions from openers Dave Barrington (30) and Kevin Howells (22).

Spin bowler Dennis Malley (7-51) delivered an effective spell for the visitors, who were on course for victory after the interval, despite being rocked early on by workhorse Richard Marsh (3-21).

Indeed, Goodrich looked very well placed until Richard Finney (3-17) and partnership breaker Andy Dawson (2-19) combined to wreck the visitors' hopes in the 41st over, sharing the last five wickets for just nine runs.

An unbeaten 80 from Graham Farmer steered Ross to a comfortable five-wicket home win over rivals Crickhowell.

Chasing Crickhowell's 151, Ross made a brisk start after which Farmer played a measured innings in his side's triumph.

Previously, Owen Morgan (62) and Matthew Lennox (55) batted Crickhowell into a strong position. However, the lower order to failed to capitalise and the visitors were undone by the bowling of Tucker (4-30).
