REIGNING champions Woodpeckers chalked up their second successive triumph with a resounding 52-run victory over Woolhope in the GL Hereford Evening League.
The Cidermen were indebted to a match-winning 155-run unbroken fifth-wicket stand between in-form Nick Denny (107 not out) and Andy Carter (46 not out) after the home team had slid to 20-4 against Brian Weaver jnr (2-17) and Brian Weaver snr (2-31).
Chasing Woodpeckers' 175-4, Woolhope's batsmen put up a determined fight but the visitors eventually closed on 123-5, with Huw Owen finishing unbeaten on 31. Chris Banks was Woodpeckers' most successful seamer, taking 3-39.
