Eastnor got back on the winning trail in this WCL Division Two fixture with a four wicket victory over Cookley in a low scoring match.

EASTNOR v COOKLEY

Put into bat the visitors found runs hard to get on a damp surface. Christian Ferreira whipped out both openers with just 16 runs scored off eight overs, just four runs of Ferreira's tight four overs. Divito (19) and Shewry (32) then added 32 runs before some vintage spin bowling from skipper Jim Sandford set Eastnor on the victory road.

Out went professional Divito with Mills following in the next over. Blakeley was run out by Emlyn Vicarage on 50-5 before Nicholls (24) joined Shewry to add 36 more runs for the sixth wicket.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man - Jim Sandford again, as he claimed both batsmen in just 12 balls, to send Cookley reeling. Young Farsal joined in at the end with two wickets but did not overshadow his captain who claimed 5-20 in 12 overs. Cookley all out in the 41st over for 90 runs.

Eastnor, however, did not have it all their own way as Selleck (4-31) again claimed wickets in the visitor's cause. 18-3, all to Selleck with just five overs gone saw Farsal (22no) bat on bravely.

Mills then joined in with two wickets before Arshad (26no) joined his young partner to lead the villagers home in the 29th over.

COOKLEY II v EASTNOR II

EASTNOR Seconds put in their best performance of the season and gained a winning draw on Saturday.

Put in to bat on a damp wicket Eastnor started brightly by taking 19 runs off the first four overs.

Wickets then fell and the run rate slowed as the score reached 57-3 after 20.

Ally Barnes then joined Nick Bollen and the pair added 51 runs until Barnes was excellently caught by Brown for 23. 'Johnny' Khalid joined Bollen in a 68 run stand until Bollen was out for a well struck 88 (9 fours and 4 sixes).

Eastnor ended with a good score for the conditions of 191 for 6 off their 50 overs with Khalid on 38no.

Eastnor's bowlers then bowled a much tidier line and length than in recent weeks and were rewarded with wickets with Naseer, Hurrell and Phillips claiming the top three batsmen between them.

Nick Hagger then went through the middle order and the visitors looked on for an outright victory until Goode and Winter held on for a long time for the penultimate wicket until the returning Naseer caught and bowled the latter.

However, Eastnor were unable to pick up the last wicket and Cookley ended on 144-9 with Hagger being the pick of the bowlers with 5-30 in his 10 overs.

The postponed Eastnor versus Brockhampton Village Knockout regional semi-final will now be played at Eastnor this Sunday (June 16).

Eastnor Colts player Mark Wildig has been selected along with Patrick Locke to represent HCB U15 squad.
