Ledbury Youth First is to celebrate the first birthday of its First Base drop-in centre with an informal open evening.

It will be on Wednesday, July 10, when members of the public, especially parents, are invited to attend the centre, off The Homend.

Visitors will also be able to find out more about The Session drug information and support event, run every Monday by the Drugs Advisory Service for Herefordshire (DASH).

Ledbury Youth First figures show that up to seven young people a week in Ledbury are making use of the DASH sessions.

Ledbury Youth First worker Sarah Preedy said: "There will be an opportunity to see the facilities and meet the workers. The purpose of our open evening will be to raise awareness about what we do, and to gain further support among the local community.

"We aim to reach out to the under 25's, to let them know we are here, and to offer free and confidential information and support for any issues ranging from bullying and drugs to education and training."

First Base, at 5A, The Homend, is open on Mondays, from 2pm to 5pm, with the DASH sessions from 6pm to 8.30pm and on Wednesdays, from 3pm to 6pm.

The service is aimed at young people aged between 11 and 25. Further details on 01531 636611.
