the Ledbury Swifts side will be able to play as defending champions in an international soccer tournament in Sweden this July, thanks to a £2,000 donation from CKM Fuels of Little Marcle Road.

Company director David Morris, who already sponsors the Ledbury 2000 adult side, dug deep to make sure that the Swifts under-16 squad will be able to travel out to defend the Roberts Cup against top Scandinavian youth teams, between July 24 and July 29.

Mr Morris said: "It's good to support a local side like this."

The money CKM Fuels has given is about half the total needed to get the Swifts to Sweden and the rest has been raised by the Swifts themselves, with events including bingo, a prize draw and a disco.

Team manager Colin Goodrum said: "We're just about there now!"

Not only has CKM Fuels given the second half of the money needed, the family-run oil distribution business has also paid for new kits for Ledbury's young ambassadors to Sweden.

On Wednesday, the delighted youngsters tried their new strips on for size at a special presentation at the John Masefield High School.
