Ryton-based artist Barbara Davis will be going round Dymock taking pictures of special interest, as part of the Countryside Agency's Integrated Rural Development Project.
All 41 parishes in the Forest of Dean are being asked to help create a contemporary snapshot of the area.
Meanwhile, Dymock Parish Council is taking special care to make sure the tree on the council car park escapes the fate of the "Dymock Oak", which was felled recently due to disease.
The tarmac around the tree is to be replaced with gravel, which should be more beneficial to the root system.
