THE Commonwealth Games' baton relay will pass through Bromyard on Thursday, July 18, at around 11.15am.

Arriving from Leominster, several runners will take their place in the Queen's Jubilee Baton Relay as it passes through the town on its way to Worcester via West Hill, New Road and the by-pass.

A total of 5,000 runners are taking part in the games' curtain-raising, 50-day tour of the UK, which started on June 6.

Inside the baton is a message from the Queen, which she will read when it is delivered to her at the opening cere-mony of the games in Manchester.

Bromyard town clerk Mike Cresswell said: "It's quite a privilege for Bromyard to be chosen as one of the towns through which the baton will pass. I hope that the people of Bromyard and Winslow will support the event and line the roads along which it is to pass."
