FOR the second week running Colwall couldn't compliment the Village Knockout win in the league falling 66 runs short to Frocester despite Lee Hankins' impressive 56.

COLWALL v FROCESTER

Putting Frocester into bat, the visitors started brightly with 76 off the opening 20 overs as opener Whincup, commanding at the crease, secured a fine half century. Pete Thomas' outstanding opening spell however kept Colwall in touch as he took the prize wicket of ex-Gloucestershire batsman Trainor for only 15.

The Australian went on to take 4-47 in 15 overs and, matched with Dave Sutton's three wickets, cut through much of the top and middle order.

Whincup's excellent innings of 86 pushed the run rate to over four an over however with Davis and McShane's 20 runs apiece dominating the latter stages before Steve Ferguson's three stumpings saw a flurry of wickets.

These included Thomas's last two dismissals although an expensive 25 extras including 19 wides, saw Frocester finish on 222-9 from 50 overs.

The immediate loss of Dave Powell followed by Tom Wolfendale six overs later hindered Colwall's response from the off as Duval made two early breakthroughs.

Pete Thomas next displayed some neat shot play to keep Colwall to three an over as he and Pete Butler steadied the innings. Both fell in consecutive overs though with Thomas falling to spinner Easto (3-44) for 31 runs to leave Colwall struggling at 57-4.

Lee Hankins' impressive 56 in 77 balls next kept Colwall's interests alive as his nine boundaries tested the bowling of Easto and Davis. It proved not to be enough however with Tim Riley, Steve Ferguson and Jordan Kontarines double figure contributions never seeing Colwall in sight of home.

Hankins unfortunate run out followed by the tail offering little resistance saw Colwall 156 all out in 43 overs after McShane's two late wickets wrapped up a 66 run win for Frocester.
